Vartan Signs Up for 'Alias'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Michael Vartan will be cozying up to Jennifer Garner in ABC's spy dram pilot, "Alias," from "Felicity" creator J.J. Abrams. Vartan recently guest-starred on "Ally McBeal" as the son half of a father/son duo Ally was dating.

In the series, Garner will play a grad student who moonlights as a CIA agent. Vartan will play Vaughn, a fellow CIA agent who works closely with Garner's character. Unlike "Felicity," a source close to the show told Zap2it that the show will feature lots of action, such as fighting scenes, complete with martial arts moves.

Vartan "brings to 'Alias' a warmth and sophistication that is so rare to find in someone who also happens to look like a movie star," Abrams was quoted saying in Variety.

Vartan's film credits include "Fiorile," "The Myth of Fingerprints" and "Never Been Kissed." He can next be seen opposite Robin Williams in the film "One Hour Photo" and in the TNT miniseries "The Mists of Avalon," in which he plays the role of Sir Lancelot opposite Julianna Margulies.

Also joining the cast is Bradley Cooper who will play the best friend to Garner's grad student. Cooper's credits include a guest-starring role on "Sex and the City."

Thanks to vartanetc.!
