Isabella Rossellini Joins the Growing "Alias" Family

SPOILERS!

The family of femme fatales on "Alias" just keeps getting bigger.

"Blue Velvet" star Isabella Rossellini has been cast to play secret agent Sydney Bristow's (Jennifer Garner) deadly butt-kicking aunt.

"Obviously she's beautiful, but she's got this wonderfully mysterious presence," series creator J.J. Abrams tells next week's edition of Entertainment Weekly.

"She just felt like she would totally fit into the 'Alias' universe."

Rossellini, 51, will play Katya, an ex-KGB agent and the sister of Sydney's mom Irina (Lena Olin), another former KGB agent. Olin left the series at the end of last season.

In the Jan. 18 episode, Katya is enlisted by Sydney's dad to help rescue the show's stars from a North Korean firing squad.
