Alias preview
Alias(ABC) Having already been renewed for next year by ABC, Alias is
racing ahead to its second-season cliffhanger, while planning for
season three, said writer/supervising producer Jesse Alexander. "It's
kind of insane. Really, starting with episode 17, almost every
episode could be the season finale, because the things that are
happening to the characters are so huge that we're all kind of
looking at each other going like, `Oh, my God. This is insanity.'
Kind of the show-altering events that are taking place in these final
episodes. It's crazy."
According to Alexander, upcoming episodes will clarify what Sloane is
after and what he's doing. "He's at the end of this 30-year odyssey
that he's been pursuing. He's been going after this goal for so long
in his life, and then something very traumatic and tragic happens in
his personal life that affects him in ways where he starts to
question what he's been doing with his life and where he's been
going. … And then he's going to learn about some facets of the
Rambaldi mythology that he didn't know about before, and it's going
to really send him on this path," said Alexander.
"And then, of course, the Irina story with Sydney's mom is going to
be huge. Sydney's mom, who has been in CIA custody, will be escaping.
Sydney has been thinking of her mom in such a way, she's kind of been
getting closer to her mother and has this vision of who her mother is
and who she wants her mother to be, and then her mother escapes and
starts doing things which make Sydney incredibly upset and devastated
that her mother has turned on her. Or she believes her mother has
turned on her. We're going to ride that right up to the end of the
season, where Sydney and her mom are going to have an incredible
final confrontation, and in that moment Irina will be passing on new
information to Sydney that will clue Sydney in to some aspects of her
life that she didn't know about previously and will really help drive
us next season, these revelations that come from her mother."
