Love is On the Air: Who's TV's Hottest Couple?

by Angie Argabrite and Dawnie Walton

In honor of Valentine's Day, we reveal what's endearing (and annoying) about Ross and Rachel, Buffy and Spike, and eight other pairs

Sydney Bristow and Michael Vaughn, "Alias"

Played by Jennifer Garner and Michael Vartan

Relationship Status After their first date ended with SD-6 agents trying to kill them, the double agent (Syd) and her ''handler'' (Vaughn, and yes, that's his official title) decided that they could only be together if SD-6 and the evil Alliance were obliterated. Darn if it didn't happen. The post-Super Bowl episode left the two in a passionate embrace amid the smoking ruins of her former office (guess all that gunfire couldn't kill the mood). And -- finally! -- the pair consummated their passion in the Feb. 2 episode...with bad Francie spying on them.

Why We Love Them These two are inextricably linked: They both lost a parent at a young age -- but it turns out that Sydney's mom, who was thought to have died in a car crash, is still alive and was responsible for killing Vaughn's dad.

Why We Don't The path to true love doesn't always run smooth. But for these star-crossed lovers the path is a land mine-strewn, sharpshooter-packed obstacle course. You don't have to be an espionage aficionado to guess that the twists of the last few episodes will translate into more potholes on the road to a happy ending.
