VICTOR GARBER SAYS CIA CASTING OF JENNIFER GARNER A SHARP MOVE

by Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith

Victor Garber believes it was a very sharp move on the part of the Central Intelligence Agency to enlist his "Alias" cast mate, Jennifer Garner, to film a recruitment video for the real-life CIA.

"They couldn't have gotten a better spokesperson," declares the Emmy- nominated Garber, who plays Agent Jack Bristow on the ABC, CIA series. "I think by them hiring Jennifer to do this, it humanizes the CIA. And," he adds, "It is a great acknowledgment to our show."

Garber acknowledges, "Obviously, what we do on the show is a fictional, comic-book kind of version of what really goes on in this world. Look at how they recruit for the Army -- those commercials are rather romanticized, I'd say."

Right now, Garner is the only "Alias" star signed to do work for the CIA in the recruitment vein, however it has been reported that other stars from the show may be asked to join in as well.

Garber reports the show, which is just wrapping its fourth episode, will give newcomers a nice entre into the world of Special Agent Sydney Bristow, Garner's character in its second season premiere Sept. 28.

"The season begins with us retracing the last two years of Sydney's life, which, in a way, is like starting over again," says Garber.

And how is the set, now that co-stars Garner and Michael Vartan are officially an item?

Reports Garber, "Nothing really has changed, it seems exactly the same. It's a happy set to work on, very family-like. The hours are still long though."
