Jennifer's 'Alias' Kiss

The third season of "Alias" premieres (Sunday, Sept. 28, at 9 p.m. on ABC) right where it left off, with Sydney (JENNIFER GARNER) desperately struggling to remember the past two years of her life after waking up in Hong Kong. She learns that so much time has passed, everyone presumed she's dead.

To begin her journey back to the present, Sydney confronts Vaughn (MICHAEL VARTAN) and discovers to her chagrin that he has moved on with his life and is now married.

"It is huge, but in reality Sydney did the same thing when [her fiancé] Danny died," Jennifer tells ET. "It was within two years that she met and fell in love with Vaughn, so life moves on no matter how unromantic that seems. But she feels as if she wouldn't have given up on Vaughn and that she would have kept on looking."

Despite the fact that Jennifer thinks that Sydney would have waited 10 years for Vaughn, by episode four she is kissing a new addition to the cast -- 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle' hottie JUSTIN THEROUX. But she claims it is not what it seems, as is the case so often on the Emmy-winning spy drama.

"It is part of what is surprising about this year," she says. "Justin is the perfect actor to bring onto our show. You can't tell if he is charming, or menacing. You know that he is sexy, but you don't know what his line is and what the nature of his relationship with Sydney is."

Justin isn't the only new addition to the cast. MELISSA GEORGE joins as Lauren Reed, an agent with the National Security Council and the wife of Michael Vaughn.

"This is the first time we have played with a triangle on the show but, the thing about it is, I love Melissa's character," Jennifer reveals. "I do not blame Vaughn at all for falling for her and Sydney respects Lauren, so it's not as if she is put there for the audience to hate. Everyone should be conflicted as to what the best resolution of this triangle should be."
