Jennifer's ALIAS College Life

It's no secret that JENNIFER GARNER is considered a sweetheart in Hollywod, but the star of Sony Pictures' 13 Going on 30 and TV's ALIAS says it's college that really changed her life. Jennifer who studied ballet and had an interest in chemistry, didn't discover drama until she took an elective as a freshman at Denison University (Granville, OH). "I had never read a play before. Then as a freshman, I read "Crimes of the Heart", I remember laughing out loud and relating to all the women in some way," she explains adding that the experience prompted her to switch her major from chemistry to theater.

"I knew I loved singing and dancing but it was a surprise for me that I loved the words so much. From the on, I was hungry for theater," she recalls. Once Jennifer discovered her passion, it became her academic focus, although she admits wishing she'd taken advantage of other learning opportunities, like styudying a language or visiting France.

"Our society says to focus on one thing to become the best at it. But the real point of a liberal arts education is to experience a variety of things," she says. The good thing, though is that Jennifer's thirst for knowledge has her thinking about furthering her education all the time. "I would love to go back to study something totally different. I've thought about getting my MBA on Saturdays, but that would crazy [with my schedule]. Or, I would love to go to culinary school."

But until then, she adds, it's fulfilling to potray smart, savvy, characters such as Sydney Bristow on ALIAS. "I'm jealous of Sydney and how much that girl knows!"

Real Life College: Denison University
College on TV: Jennifer played Hannah Bibb, a college music major and love interest for Noel, on Felicity.
What's next: See Jennifer relive her teen years in 13 Going on 30 [kind of like Tom Hanks' BIG). "It's totally interesting to remember that at 13, you are smart and sophisticated," she says, "but at the same time, have so much to learn".
