FHM: Do you think, "Oh my god, I am hot!" when you wake up in the morning?
Michael: Well, it's summer here now. So yes, if my air conditioner fails. But in
winter, no, never. Ha!
FHM: In your movies you had the chance to work with brilliant women like
Drew Barrymore, Natasha Henstridge or Jennifer Garner. Which of them is your
favourite?
Michael: All of them have qualities which attract me – due to the fact
that I'm a man. First of all, they are beautiful and each of them has a
great personality. That's easy. But they have different other merits. I
think there is a connection between Jennifer and Drew. But I don't know. As
a woman, Natasha was too strong for me.
FHM: Alias was nominated for several Emmys. How did you celebrate?
Michael: Actually, only Jennifer and Lena were nominated in the category
Actress. And the series got Emmys for film technology and wardrobe.
Eleven nominations, I think. But like you see, I wasn't nominated. So it doesn't
concern me.
FHM: When was the last time you did a crazy thing?
Michael: I think it was three weeks ago in Vegas. A friend of mine
celebrated the end of his bachelorship.
FHM: Go on.
Michael: I can't. What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas.
FHM: Critics say that you don't make it easy for George Clooney with your
looks. So why aren't you in more big Hollywood productions?
Michael: In the movie business you have to have luck and work
with the right people. That hasn't happened to me yet! I'm just
happy that I can act. I will work as long as I have the opportunity.
FHM: A few days ago the DVD "Monster-in-Law" was released. Do you imagine you could
prefer film offers over Alias some day?
Michael: That depends on how long I've worked for Alias when the offer comes.
In five years definitely! No, seriously, on Alias I have the funniest role I've
ever had. I can wear cool Hugo-Boss-suits, I have a weapon holstered and I can play
with a lot of technical toys. That's like a dream come true. You always want to be James Bond as a child, don't you?
FHM: If you didn't act, what would you do instead of it?
Michael: Something with sports or music. Fortunately, I don't have to think
about it.
FHM: Did you have to complete a CIA training before you began filming for
Alias?
Michael: No. I could sit here and pretend, "Yes, I did." But Jennifer was the
only one who completed a martial arts training. She fights in every scene
and they wanted to be sure that it is authentic to the viewers. But the rest of us, me, we are only in the field in every other episode. We sometimes
exchange some punches; you don't need a black belt for that. I do a lot of sports in my freetime, in order to be fit
in my private life. That's also helpful on the set. But I didn't learn to fight.
FHM: When was the last time something really funny happened to you?
Michael: My mother called me and said, "There is a watch on Ebay with your
face on the dial."
FHM: What did it cost?
Michael: I don't know. I looked at it once and was so shocked that I
closed the page immediately. I never clicked on it again.
FHM: Do women stop on the streets and tell you that you can take them
anytime?
Michael: Not really. Often 13- or 14-year olds recognize me, who saw me in
"Never Been Kissed." Most people are very polite and don't go below the
waist. But: Yes, it happens. Just not very often.
FHM: The truth! Did you ever flip out because of the fame?
Michael: I just so managed to escape and have only found my face
on a watch. I don't want to know what Tom Cruise finds out about himself.
