Fundraiser to be held for H&K2 assistant's children

by Daniel Davidson

The makers of "Harold & Kumar 2" will host a fundraising party Saturday at Artspace, located at 710 Texas St. in downtown Shreveport. The event is open to the public.

Money raised through the event will be donated to the children of Carol Trevino, an assistant to the producers of Harold & Kumar 2, who died February 13 in a car accident south of Shreveport.

Trevino, 31, an Ohio native, had three children, ages 7, 9 and 16.

The party will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. and will be open to the public. A $10 donation will be requested at the door.

Artspace is located at 710 Texas St. in downtown Shreveport.

In addition to a cash bar, there will be live music and an auction of autographed Hollywood memorabilia including photos, DVDs, books, scripts, storyboards, sheet music and posters signed by Jane Fonda, Michael Vartan (Alias), Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Bacon, Kelly Preston, Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Bret Easton Ellis, Mark Harmon, James Wan (Saw), Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Raimi (Spiderman 3), Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Starship Troopers), Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow), Frank Darabont (Shaw Shank Redemption, The Green Mile), Andre Braugher (Thief) and many other movie luminaries.

Kumar Productions is also putting a visit to the set of Harold & Kumar 2, currently filming in Shreveport, on the auction block.

Additionally, there will be photographs, script pages, promotional items, props and a Harold & Kumar 2 director's chair signed by the stars of the upcoming film: John Cho (Harold), Kal Penn (Kumar), Neil Patrick Harris, Christopher Meloni and writer/directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.

Among the many other auction items available are an X-Box, i-Pods, a Walden Media children's fun pack and promotional items from The Lord of the Rings, including an Elvin broach, a Weta Battle Troll statue and a sterling silver replica of The One Ring.

A $10 per person donation is suggested at the door.

Everybody is welcome and encouraged to come out and have a great time socializing with the cast and filmmakers of Harold & Kumar 2 with the knowledge that they are helping support three young children who lost their mother too soon.
