By Jim Cheng with staff and wire reports

Michael Vartan, who last was seen on ABC walking the beach in the series finale of Alias, will return to the network to star in a drama pilot about high-powered business executives who also are friends. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vartan's character is the new CEO of a large corporation and is described as the moral center of the show. Vartan played Agent Michael Vaughn on Alias for five seasons. In other casting on ABC, Gabrielle Union will star in the drama pilot Football Wives. Union will play a former model turned recording star who is engaged to a star wide receiver. The show is adapted from a British soap.
