SPOILERS!

Is there a doctor in the house? Heck, yeah, and Michael Vartan does the white coat proud as smart and sexy Tom Wakefield, chief of surgery -- and chief ally to Jada Pinkett Smith's rule-bending nurse Christina Hawthorne. Here, Vartan offers his season-ending prognosis.

Last episode of the season: So what's up, doc?
Friendship is put to the test in a major way. Christina does something that yet again breaks all the rules, and this time it sends poor Tom over the edge. I lay into her pretty heavily. As an actor, conflict is always the most fun to play, and there's a lot of it.

Is Tom ever gonna loosen up?
I think for sure in Season 2, if we're lucky enough to have one. I'm not sure what they have in store for me -- I told them hockey is a must!

And what about romance?
There's definitely a little spark between Christina and Tom, a little realization that, "Hey, a different place, a different time, this could have been something."

Which TV M.D. do you look up to?
Doogie Howser. It might seem like a strange one, but I play chief of surgery, and in my mind's eye, I'm a little young for that part, so I just have to remember that Doogie was a doctor -- and dammit, if Doogie can do, so can I.
