Quartet sing Jolene

SPOILERS!

By Mike Sampson

Source: Hollywood Reporter

Denise Richards, Dermot Mulroney, Donald Sutherland and Michael Vartan have all signed on to star in the upcoming indie drama JOLENE, which presumably has nothing to do will the Dolly Parton song or the White Stripes' bitchin remake. The film will star newcomer Jessica Chastain as the titular Jolene who embarks on a cross-country adventure at the young age of 15. The movie, based on E.L. Doctorow's short story "Jolene: A Life," will track her journey over the course of ten years. Could the movie rejuvinate the career of Richards like what "My Name is Earl" did for similarly pegged Jamie Pressley? Richards certainly has some obstacles to overcome, most especially that whole Charlie-Sheen-called-me-the-N-word and-then-I-stole-Heather-Locklear's-husband thing. That's a WHOLE lotta personal drama. Dan Ireland, who has worked with big name stars like Renee Zellweger and Salma Hayek but has yet to have a big name pic, will direct. JOLENE recently began filming in Arizona.
