Young Man in a Hurry

Alias star Michael Vartan won no friends by refusing to speak to media or stop for photos on the awards red carpet last night. Vartan, who is in Australia filming the horror flick Rogue, almost challenged the world record for the 100m as he sprinted along the long red carpet outside the Waterfront Pavilion. "I'm not here to do media," he said as he brushed past the press pack.

Hot and Bothered

Wolf Creek director Greg McLean arrived in Melbourne yesterday after three weeks of battling the elements in the NT on his latest production, Rogue. McLean, who has the backing of a US studio to the tune of $10 million for this project, said his horror tale of a man-eating crocodile was on schedule. "It's been 40 degrees in the shade up there every day," McLean said. "It has been very slow, very hot going." McLean said the production would move to Victoria tomorrow. "We start shooting around Warbuton and we will be there for about the next 10 weeks," he said.
