The FAQ
Because of the massive amounts of e-mail we receive on a daily basis, we can no longer answer each mail individually. Particularly those mails which include questions that are answered somewhere else on our site. So we've decided to place this FAQ on our site for your convenience. We love receiving any and all e-mail and are happy to help you, but please look over this FAQ before contacting us with questions and before joining the VHoChat mailing list. Thanks!

¤ Who are you?
We're three huge Michael Vartan fans that like to devote some of their free time to maintaining this Web site. If you want to know more, check out our Mission Statement or Personnel Files.
¤ How do I contact you?

¤ I have a question about a specific section.
In the top of each section there should be an e-mail address of the person who runs that particular section. Please address any problems or questions to her! Sending it to anyone else may result in your mail getting lost. If the section has no e-mail address, please mail your question to thesafehouse@vartanho.com.
¤ Can I send in a submission?
Yes. We're happy to receive any and all of your submissions. Keep in mind this does not mean we will use them! As of 2.28.04, we've cut back drastically on Alias coverage, so please try to keep your submissions centered on Michael Vartan. We are not accepting any submissions for the New VSR Report or other editorial sections. If we find something from you on the net we'd like to post, we'll contact you.

¤ Do you accept submissions for editorial sections?
Other than for the Caption Contest, no. At this time we are not accepting any submissions. If we find something of yours we'd like to post, we'll contact you.
¤ Can we contact you with information about Michael and Jennifer's personal lives?
Sure, but you will not hear back from us. We don't read gossipy mails and won't respond to them. We already hear enough gossip ourselves and try to be very strict about maintaining actor privacy.
¤ Do you post paparazzi pictures?
Generally no. We have been contemplating it and asked for your input, but for the most part we just don't feel comfortable with having them on the site. There will occasionally be some benign, non-intrusive shots that we might share (i.e. Michael with Millie), but we'll decide on a case-by-case basis what we're comfortable with. So don't expect many.
¤ Who are your spoiler/information sources??
We name any and all sources at the top of each post, including links, unless they ask to remain anonymous. We usually don't provide e-mail addresses to sources because they would rather not be slammed with mail from people asking for more information. If we get spoilers from another fan site, we always give credit.
¤ I would like to use some of your site content on my site. Can I?
Generally no, but it depends on the section. Please mail the head of the section whose content you'd like to use and refer to our usage guidelines. As for our unique site name/titles, design and editorial content: absolutely not. Our name and our personal content is exclusive to this site and we'd like it to stay that way.
¤ Why aren't you posting about Alias anymore?
You can go here to read our general statement about discontinuing the Alias portions of our website. We're really tired of the show and we've spent all of our patience trying to "put up" with, rather than enjoy, Alias. But we still love Michael Vartan! This site was originally, and continues to be, a Michael Vartan website. Alias was always just a great extra bonus. The VHoChat will remain open for all Alias and Michael discussion. Please feel free to still send in Michael-related Alias information to us. We're happy to use it. But we reserve the right to post what we want.
¤ Are you still going to support Michael on Alias or are you going to just completely ignore it?
We love Michael and support him in all that he does. Just because we aren't posting about Alias as much as we used to doesn't mean we're going to disregard its existence. Michael is still on the show, so we're obviously going to continue to post about it. We've just decided to stop posting any extraneous coverage, or keep the sections updated that were made up simply for Alias because we loved the show. Please feel free to still send in Michael-related Alias information. We're happy to use it. But we reserve the right to post what we want.
¤ What do you think about doing campaigns?
Generally, we appreciate all efforts made by fans to support Michael. But we're very picky about participating in a campaign ourselves or even doing one on the site. We have helped promote campaigns like the Alias Marathons and did a personal MV Birthday Project and polls/letters in support of Vaughn or Michael, but we reserve our input for special occasions. We're very open to suggestions, so feel free to contact us about a campaign, but be advised that we'll consider it carefully!

Problems/Suggestions/Flames/Praise
¤ I'm having a technical problem with the site itself. Who do I contact?
Depending on the section you're having problems with, please try the head of that section. If no e-mail address is listed, such as the What's New Page, please contact us via thesafehouse@vartanho.com. If you're having problems viewing images, there is a detailed solution here! Please remember that this is high-tech stuff, so the occasional glitch or oversight will happen. Please bear with us, we'll try our best to resolve the problem as quickly as possible!
¤ Will you answer flame or praise mails?
We're happy to receive any praise mail or constructive criticism and will almost positively mail you back saying thank you. We DO NOT respond to flame mails.
¤ Can we send in suggestions for the site?
Absolutely. We're happy to consider anything that could help make our site better.

Submitting Information and/or Images

Please send it to whomever runs that section. There should be an e-mail address at the top of each section. If there isn't, please send it to thesafehouse@vartanho.com. Be sure to label the mail clearly and let us know if you're sending attachments! ¤ I sent you images or information and it didn't go up on the site. Why not?
We only place certain information on the site. The information you sent may have already been mentioned, someone else may have mentioned it first, or the information/image was not something we were interested in at that time. We respond to just about everything that is valid to our site. Mail we do generally NOT respond to includes flame mail, mail with information that has already been mentioned on the site, mail about Jennifer and Michael's personal lives, gossip.
¤ Why can't we mail Patrick M. personally?
Because Patrick is a God-like being and doesn't have time for e-mail, what with parting rivers and turning water into wine (actually, he's a really cool guy who just doesn't want to be bombarded with people asking him for specific images or technical advice). Feel free to mail Lugia at lugia@vartanho.com, though, who will pass on any praise or questions to him!
¤ Why were the Ho List e-mail addies taken down?
An evil internet troll found the e-mail addies on The Ho List fanlisting and started to spam everyone. So for the security of our members we decided to remove them so that it could never happen again.
¤ I mailed you and never received a response.
It may have either been sent to the wrong person, got eaten by our mail program, or you sent us information we chose not to reply to or use on the site or already had. If you believe there was a mistake, please remail it!
¤ I missed an episode of Alias and would love to get a copy from you!
Unfortunately, because of the huge amount of requests, we cannot send people copies of tapes, either from Alias or Michael's movies. But you're not out of luck! The TWoP boards have a tape swap thread for people that missed the show.
¤ What is MV's tattoo all about?
We've never gotten a close enough glimpse of it to be able to say for sure, but it involves the initials S.G. which stand for Shannon Gleason, who he was engaged to for 10 years.
¤ Can I mail you discussing Alias plot points and/or spoilers (this excludes giving us information we don't already have)?
Because we get so much mail on a daily basis, we don't have time to get into in-depth conversations or speculations about what we think is going on on Alias. We do have the VHoChat discussion group, where you can talk with hundreds of other people (including us) about any Alias or Michael topic you like, but please don't address it to us personally.
¤ I really need information about Alias/other stuff that isn't a part of your site.
Please search Google or a message board before asking us a non-site related questions. We don't have enough time to do searches for you unless it has something specifically to do with Michael. Most of the time, just typing a few keywords into a search engine will provide you with the results you need!
¤ I really need an Alias episode transcript. Help!

Um, no. That's why we have a site! Please do not e-mail us asking to send you stuff, or worse, asking us to send you all the secret stuff you think we're hiding. This isn't the CIA, people! What/Where are the Rules?
¤ Where can I read the rules of the VHoChat?
You can read all of the rules right here. You MUST read them before sending mail to the VHoChat. It is for your own benefit. If you are suddenly removed from the list and you don't know why, it's most likely because you haven't read the rules properly. Please feel free to contact us if you have any problems or grievances about them or other members! We'll be happy to help you in any way we can.

¤ Why can't we talk about Jen and Michael's relationship?
Because, unfortunately, some people can't just say something and then drop it. It gets dragged on and on and we can't control what every single person says. While some of you may be able to be respectful, others cannot. So instead of dealing with, "Well, you let her talk about it but not me. That's not fair," we've decided to simply keep it out of the chat altogether. We don't know them and neither do you. Any information you get watching entertainment shows or reading magazines is most likely biased and even more likely wrong. So unless it's a specific and official statement from their representatives, we don't want it on the chat. At least one website/message board has been closed because of this type of gossiping and we don't want to have to shut down our group, or worse, the site, too, because a few people couldn't remain civil. If you have a problem with this, you do not need to join the chat. Simple as that.
¤ Can we talk bad about actors now that you've created a snarky section?
No. The purpose of the Snark section is not to spread hatred on a website or mailing list about any particular actor/actress. It is our way of making a very specific and controlled statement to ABC and TPTB by voicing our opinions in a humorous way. It's not to be taken literally. The VHoChat is a private discussion group; making any statement on a private list is completely insignificant. Furthermore, we cannot police what 800 people say on a mailing list or judge if they mean it all in good fun, too, so bashing of any kind is not allowed.
¤ Why can't we send attachments?
Because of the high risk of viruses being spread in the attachments you send and because of the long download times for people on slower connections. Even if we allowed it, the mailing system would only distribute attachments to members on the "individual mail" setting, so most people would constantly miss out. Please use the files and photos sections on the VHoChat website to share images and files with other members.

¤ Why are you so picky about subject headings and spoilers?
Subject headings tell people what the mail is going to be about. If someone is avoiding spoilers, then having a spoiler right in the heading is, well, bad. If your mail contains spoilers and you don't warn people in the header about this and add spoiler space in the mail's body, then it might ruin the show for them. We understand that mistakes are made and we try not to get too frustrated. But sometimes it's pure laziness and ignorance that can create a problem for an entire group of people. Please try to be considerate!
Unfortunately, we can only moderate and delete mislabeled mails after they've been sent out, so the damage is immediately and irrevocably done once you hit "send." Please try to be careful and conscious of what you send.
Another reason clear headers are important is because people have to pay for their internet connection and download volume. If your mail strays from the topic in the header too much, please change the header so people will know which mail to open and what to expect.
Please don't use all caps in headers. Please don't send blank headers or headers that just state "Digest Number 461." We'll put "Admin" in our header if we have something important to accounce.

Problems or Questions
¤ Why did I receive a private warning?
Because you broke one of the rules for the chat group.
¤ Why was my message deleted?
Because it violated one of the rules for the chat group. You will usually be sent a private e-mail from the moderators regarding why your message was deleted.
¤ I'm having technical problems. Who do I contact?
Depends on your problem. If you never received an invitation or your invitation expired, please contact Lugia as she handles The Ho List website section. If it's a technical question about the chat group itself, please contact Lugia as she handles all group and computer problems.
¤ I'm having problems with another poster. Who do I contact?
You can contact any of the administrators immediately if someone is giving you a problem.

¤ Why don't I ever see moderation taking place?
As we don't want to cause a scene or create extra mail on the list itself, any and all moderation is handled off-list. You'll get a short note from one of the moderators, most likely, stating why your mail got deleted or why you've been banned for a month. If anyone has a problem with another poster, rule or a general question, please mail any of us off-list and we'll be happy to help you. Please keep it out of the chat group.
¤ If a message was deleted, then why did I still get it in my mailbox?
Because it's impossible to unsend messages delivered to e-mail subscribers. That's why it's important not to place spoilers in your header, or leave it blank, or to use attachments. Even if we delete messages from the message archive on the group's website, everyone who receives messages by e-mail will still have seen it. So please be careful what you send!
