Having trouble viewing images on our site?
- Are you running Norton Internet Security? Then we have the solution!

Quite a few people have written in that have found they're having problems not only viewing new promo images, but that the links themselves seem to be missing! We think we've figured out the problem. The problem seems to lie in the way that some Internet security programs, such as Norton Internet Security, block ads. Because we have the word "promo" in the URL to the pictures, the program thinks that the photos, and even the links to them, are ads, so it blocks them out.
We may consider changing our section naming, but that will take a lot of time and work to reformat all the pages that contain links to the promo pictures. However, there are two things you can do right now to be able to see the pictures. One way is to disable your security program before you visit The Safe House, and then enable it back when you leave our site. Ephian says that it takes only a second to disable it for a particular site. The other way is to tell your ad-blocker program that "/promos/" is a permitted HTML string for www.vartanho.com and for www.vartanhopics.com -- that will allow the program to recognize that any of our URLs with that word aren't ads.
Here are the fairly detailed instructions for making the links
visible at your site for those using Norton Internet Security. These
instructions also work for Norton Anti-Spam and Norton Personal
Firewall.
1. Open the Norton program (NIS, NAS or NPF)
2. Double click on Ad Blocking
3. In the Ad Blocking window that appears, click Advanced.
4. Under the box on the left side of the Advanced window, click Add
Site
5. In the Add Site box, type in "www.vartanho.com" in the text box and
click on the OK button (type what is between the quotes).
6. Next, select www.vartanho.com in the list on the left of the
Advanced window, where it should now show up, by clicking on it once.
On the right side of the window, click the Ad Blocking tab, and then
click the Add button under this right-hand box. In the Add window
that will pop up, click "Permit" and then type in the text
box "/promos/", and click OK. Again, type what is between the quotes.
Now repeat steps 4 through 6, adding site www.vartanhopics.com and
once again setting Permit for "/promos/".
When done, click OK, close the rest of the Norton program, and try the
site - you should see the links and pictures, but you might need to
refresh the page.
This sounds more complicated than it is - it really only takes about
two minutes to do. And it's not a bad idea to do this and learn how
it's done. You will undoubtedly encounter similar problems at other
websites. Once you figure out how to use the program, you should be
able to correct your permissions for those sites too.
