INCOMING TRANSMISSION ...

Sunday, July 28th, 2002 Update by: SB, Vartan Ho #2

MV quote in EW, GG's cameo
There's a small quote in this week's Entertainment Weekly from Michael about the Emmy race that you can read here. There's also a small picture of Jennifer on the cover as a 'tease' for the article that the quote's from.

If you're planning on watching the new Austin Powers movie, be on the lookout for Greg Grunberg as a "T"! You'll know the scene when you see it. :)

Don't forget, The Box, Part 2 is re-airing tonight, and have a lovely Sunday!

Season 2 premiere
There's a small bit from Zap2it about the premiere date and lineup that you can read here. Speaking of which, apparently Fox is airing The Matrix that night, so do yourselves a favor if you haven't seen that movie yet and rent it or borrow it from a friend so that there's no chance, however small, of a tiny voice in your head whimpering, "But I haven't seen that movie...." ;)

JG in Allure
Thanks to Switchfoot Girl on the SD-6 boards for the info: Jennifer is going to be featured in the September issue of Allure magazine, so I would guess you should start scanning the news stands in a couple of weeks. (Ooh, that issue also promises "three simple steps to salon-smooth, high-shine hair." Woohoo! ;) )

The other Emmys
What? You didn't know there were other Emmys?? I'm shocked. <g> Actually, the GoldDerby board is doing their own Emmys, and Alias is up for Best Drama this time. Jennifer remains nominated for Best Actress, as does Victor for Best Supporting Actor, and Amy Irving is up for Guest Actress. (JJ also got one for directing the pilot.) The nominees are here, along with the email address to where you can send your votes, which you have until August 20th to do. For the record, The Mists of Avalon also received noms: one for Outstanding Miniseries, Anjelica Huston and Julianna Margulies for Best Actress in a Miniseries/Movie, and Joan Allen for Supporting Actress.

Have a great Saturday!

Season 2 spoilers, TCA pic
Several new spoilers have been added on the season 2 page, including one about a new character being cast *and* mentions of the status of the Syd/Vaughn 'ship. :)

There's a new picture of Bradley, Merrin, and Kevin at the TCA tour; it's the last one on the page, and it *does* link to a larger version for your viewing pleasure.

That's it for today; it's finally Friday, so have a fantastic day and start to your weekend!

Season 2
Thanks to Corinne for the heads-up on this one! :) There's a new article from Sci Fi Wire with some quotes from Michael and Bradley about the season premiere that you can read here. There *are* small spoilers in the article, so proceed with caution.

That being said, we've got a bone to pick over the misspelling of "Sydney." Rule number one should be to check your facts, and when it comes to something as important as a name, you should always double-check its spelling, especially when it has more than one common spelling. And on top of that, we're talking about the name of the main character on the TV show that's the subject of the article!

I'm thinking "Sidney" should hook up with "Moulder" and "Skully," and the three of them can go around the world bringing down conspiracies and rogue government agencies. *Ahem* ;)

Anyhow, other than the fact that I've added several new names to the Ho List, that's all the news for today -- so reread from some of your favorite sections, have a cookie, and enjoy your day!

Daredevil, One Hour Photo
As Kate says, Elektra's training to kick ass and take names. <g> There are new Jen, Ben Affleck, and Colin Farrell pictures, as well as a new (small) article about the delay in production and fan expectation.

Courtesy of Linda's OHP site. There's a bit of new info regarding the release of OHP, so you may want to check that out, especially if you live in the San Francisco area.

Sarah Shahi news, ABC press release
A lot of people seemed to really love actress Sarah Shahi as Jenny, so if you've been wondering what she's been up to, you're not alone. There's a small news blip from the Dallas Morning News about her latest projects.

ABC is going to be having a Primetime preview weekend at Disneyland's California Adventure, so if you've scheduled your vacation to Disneyland around the end of August or live in SoCal, you just may be in luck. You can get more details here.

Alias's season 2 premiere date
Mark your calendars (or just keep reading ours), because the season 2 premiere of Alias is September 29! Yay!

Until then, we'll just have to satisfy ourselves with reruns, and with that, we leave you today with what Entertainment Weekly says about The Box, Part 2 in its What to Watch section for Sunday:
"When Vaughn gets orders not to help save Sydney and Jack when the SD- 6 headquarters are about to be destroyed, he says, 'To hell with your orders, you CIA bastards! I'm my own man with my own plan, and no two- bit government agency is gonna stop me!' Actually, he doesn't quite get that worked up about it, but he does disregard them."

Season 2 production; TCA pics; more articles
ABC put out a press release yesterday concerning the start of production on Alias that you can read here. We're half way through the hiatus! Woohoo!

Speaking of season 2, ABC's Entertainment Prez, Susan Lyne, promises that the season premiere will rock. Those aren't her exact words, but I'm sure that's what she meant. ;)

Here's more reason to celebrate: we've found three more pictures of Michael from the TCA press tour, which we've added to the TCA picture page. They're pretty similar to the others, but that's OK. ;)

One more article for today, another Emmy-related. This one has some nice words about Jen and Victor, so it's worth the read, despite its length.

Site updates
Kate's added a new Vaughn coincidence to the Section Disparate that was sent in by Pokey, Vartan Ho #321. Thanks! :)

There's also a new wallpaper at the bottom of the wallpapers page that I did.

ABC promo blitz
As anyone who's been following the numbers knows, ABC hasn't been doing so well, ratings wise, ever since it put "Millionaire" on every single freakin' night (or something like that). As a result, they're planning a promotional blitz that will include a makeover of the yellow. As a side note, since we Hos are still irritated with the lack of Vaughn promos, we're hoping an appropriate increase of said promos will be a part of the network's change.

Attn San Diego Hos: Alias at Comic-Con
Thanks to dancer at sd-6.com boards for the heads-up. Those in San Diego and the surrounding areas (and anyone with cash to burn) will want to read this: there's going to be an Alias session on Friday, August 2nd at 12pm Comic-Con International in San Diego. J.J. Abrams, writer Jesse Alexander, producer Brian Burk, and Bradley Cooper and Kevin Weisman (Marshall) will be there to "tell us what's up next for Sydney and Alias." Additionally, there will be a Daredevil (movie) session on Saturday the 3rd, and a session with Buffy's Joss Whedon.

Correction from yesterday re: push-throughs
Jen was kind enough to point out to us that the site and graph we linked to yesterday (scroll down) are actually the solution to the Alias Web Puzzle, not the pushthroughs. This information came out in March, and the letters being decoded are from some MP3, not the pushthrough letters.

So, it would appear the mystery of the push-throughs is still out there (oh no, am having painful XF flashbacks-- v. v. bad), and we apologize for leading everyone to believe otherwise.

Have a great Tuesday!

New FA, VSR report; Daredevil spoilers
Souris tackled "A Broken Heart" this weekend, so head on over and check out her latest fashion assassination, then reminisce over the beginnings of the Vaughn/Syd 'ship. :)

Also, Kate's added a small spoiler about the opening scene to the Daredevil page.

Push-throughs
The mystery of the push-throughs seems to have been solved: decoding the letters seems to reveal a website. Some of you may have already seen this, but for everyone else, an explanation of *how* it was solved is available at this site. ...However, I think I speak for several of my fellow Hos when I say I (we) don't understand the explanation, so if you do, go ahead and email us. And if you're the person who cracked this, you deserve a round of applause!

International Spy Museum
Joana, Vartan Ho #206, emailed us her experience at the Spy Museum. She said, "I happened to be on vacation in Washington DC this week and I was there for the opening of the international spy museum- it was pretty cool. For the opening ceremony they had these people repelling down the side of the building wearing like black trench coats, sunglasses, and hats. There was such a massive crowd there I couldn't even get in on Friday but I came back on Saturday and waited for an hour to get in. I was all set to be the first person to use Sydney Bristow as my code name but it turns out there's this room with all these people's names on the wall and you choose one of them. The museum is really huge with tons of information. There's interactive computer stuff you can do and this one really cool part where you get to climb through a ventilation system. I was kind of disappointed they didn't have anything about Alias in their little section about spy movies and tv but I guess the show is probably too new. Anyway...just thought you guys might be interested." Thanks for sharing, Joana!! :)

Happy Monday!
