INCOMING TRANSMISSION ...

Saturday, May 25th, 2002 Update by: SB, Vartan Ho #2

Happy 1 month to The Safe House, and Daredevil
Wow! We've all made it through the first month of existence! We'd like to take a moment to thank all of our visitors and fellow Vartan Hos; we wouldn't be here if you weren't! Hopefully, this is just the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship -- kinda like Syd and Vaughn. ;)

Kate's updated the Daredevil page with a new altered image of the one from last week, so check that out.

That's actually it for now, but you can always reread some of the Fashion Assassins, VSR Reports, or Tool of the Weeks. Just like Michael, they're worth seeing more than once. :)

Have a lovely Saturday!

Articles, hidden messages and nekkid Vaughn, oh my!
TGIF! Sorry for the late update everyone, but there's a lot!

First, go check out the newest pics of Michael here! He attended the Playstation2 party at the Standard Lounge and Hotel in L.A. Wednesday night, and we managed to find these. You can just tell he was there to play with the games, instead of Hollywood Shmoozing. And he's smiling in one of the pics. For that alone it's worth checking out. Glenda sent the following along for us.

"Yesterday, (May 23, 2002) GoodDay Live showed a "very brief" clip of Michael at the PS2/Standard party. He was referred to as a "PlayStation fanatic."
He told a story about being one of the first people to get a PlayStation because he stood in line at the Beverly Center for about 4 hours to get one.
By the way, he looked great but not as tanned as the "stills" would lead you to believe."

Thanx Glenda!

Souris updated the Daredevil page with a new an improved opening date. Can't these studio's ever make up their minds?!

We've gotten a few mails, one in particular from kj, asking if we knew where to buy Michael's 'nudie' film, 'Un homme et duex femmes'. Well, as far as we know, nowhere to speak of. I'm sure it will pop up soon though. Once a celeb becomes really famous, all that old stuff comes out at a rediculous price and you'll be able to buy it at your local grocery store. But, just to maybe clear some things up...you won't have to wait very long to again see another Michael 'nudie' film; Michael is, well, very exposed in 'One Hour Photo'.

Well, no one has figured it out yet, but there's much speculation going on throughout the Alias world about the 'Push-Through's', and what they meant. 'Push- Through's', for those of you that don't know, are the little clips in almost every ep of Alias, where 1 letter is highlighted in the introduction of a scene that takes place in a new country/city/evil-tooth puller's basement. Just about every ep has had one, an it's been said that each letter means something. So thanx to Mrs. Nadja Sark from F4F, we've got the latest scoop. After gathering each letter from every ep, here's the combination:
S A N I D R N A G O E S L O W D S A S X I O A U V N V E S R G E E W T E O O G R L E N A O G G G C C G P A O D A A T.

Now we aren't sure if each letter can only be used once, or if it stays the way it is. You can check out more on this here to get idea's on what it could mean. But it's rumored the code has some sort of secret message about the show attached once it's decoded. Haven't seen it done yet but if you figure it out, please let us know!

Michael party-hopping? More Spoilers?
Michael and Dennis Hopper? Lugia has updated with an article about Michael appearing at Dennis Hoppers 66th b-day party here. How strange is that?

We've added a major 'Mr. Sark' spoiler thanx to Samantha to the season 2 spoiler page. We haven't gotten this confirmed yet, but we thought we'd share anyway. So until it's confirmed please take it as a grain of salt. We also added a very small 'wrap-up' of the finale, as well as the interview transcript from Because I Said So! from the Canadian tv show last night. Thanx Rebecca! There's a very mild spoiler, for those that are foaming from the mouth for anything, about Haladki's fate.

Yay! Souris has created another masterpiece! Check out the hillarious Fashion Assassination of Almost Thirty Years. Souris is really on a roll with these!

Finally, I just want to monopoloze a bit of Ho-time here to ask a favor of some of you. We appreciate so much all the mail we've gotten from each and every one of you! Whether it be praise, or help, or questions. You are all utterly fabtastic and we love ya! But we humbly beg, to please put a subject in the header of your mail if you write us! Some of us Ho's have had major virus prob's in the past, nevermind the fact a lot of us used to watch The X-Files. So we're super paranoid! If you don't put a header in the mail you send, we often times delete it from our mailboxes simply out of safety sake. So if you realize you have done this, please re-send the mail to us and we'd be happy to read it. Otherwise it's going to be lost. Thanx so much and have a good night!

Updated: Victor Garber on TV tonight!
Thanks to Rebecca for passing this along: Victor is going to be on "Because I Said So!," a Canadian talk show on the entertainment channel Star! tonight at 11 Eastern. Should be interesting; hopefully we'll get some more insight on what it's like on the set of Alias.

Michael on EXTRA and season 2 spoilers
Kate transcribed Michael's EXTRA appearance last night for us. Fair warning, it's on the season 2 spoilers page, under a fairly major new season 2 spoiler (of course, seeing how this is still incredibly early in the game, all "completely subject to change" warnings apply). You can read the transcript here, if you won't be upset if you accidently read the spoiler. I'm working on getting the transcript up on its own temporary page, but that's not up yet.

Kate's Vartan Ho quiz and other site news
Kate wrote this quiz at the beginning of the season, but it got lost in the myriad of emails sent to get this site up, and was only just now re-discovered. It's a great quiz, but I'm pleading the 5th as to how many times I said "yes." ;) Take the quiz here.

Lugia's updated the coincidences section, as well as updated the Ho list.

In case you can't get enough of these online quizzes...
Joey's Pizza, another cool Alias site, has a quiz asking, What Alias character are you?. In case anyone was wondering, I'm Vaughn! He and I have *so* much in common ... we're made for each other. What? Sydney? Who's that? ;)

It's almost Friday! Woohoo!

Heads-up: Michael Vartan will be on EXTRA tonight!
Lori at vartanetc says that MV is going to be interviewed on Extra TONIGHT! (Check local listings. Time and station will vary in your area.)

Recap from last night's update
In case you missed our evening update yesterday, we just posted a link to a picture of JG from the World Stunt Awards, as well as the transcript to Monday's JJ/Felicity chat, which we've archived here.

Coming soon!
The Vartan Ho bartenders have been busy mixing drinks for our Happy Hour section, which we'll be unveiling soon. Even if you don't drink (or aren't "old enough," *cough cough*), the names of the drinks alone will be worth checking out!

Shockingly, that's it for today, barring breaking news. In the meantime, why doesn't everyone pull out some Alias tapes and try to figure out what the secret message is in the highlighted letters of the locations? (I hope everyone knows what I mean; something is getting lost in the translation from my brain to my keyboard.) Once you've figured it out, or have a clue, or know where we can find clues, email us!

Evening Update:
Like I was saying this morning, major crossed wires. Oy! Anyhow, you can check out the full JJ/Felicity transcript from yesterday's chat. I don't believe we have it yet in our articles archive, but hopefully we'll have that up soon.

Also, it turns out that the World Stunt Awards were *not* today, and in fact already happened. Whoops. We apologize for that grievous error (...shades of Monty Python...). Anyway, as penance, we offer this picture of JG at said awards show.

Speaking of the lovely and talented Jennifer Garner, there's an old You Sexy Thing poll at TVGuide.com that pits her against Charisma Carpenter. Maybe the names (/initials?) cause me bias, but I'd love to see Jen pull ahead. While you're at the site, you can also re-vote for Michael (who, of course, is pitted against Bradley Cooper), because darn it, why not? ;)

Alias Official Guide!
How cool is this? The Alias official guide to the first season, which will be published in October of this year, is available for preorder from amazon.com. The book description reads: "Alias is the hottest new drama of the year. Now, for the first time, fans have an authorized all-access behind-the-scenes look at the making of the smash TV show, with reflections and anecdotes that readers won't find anywhere else–from cast members, writers, and creator/executive producer J. J. Abrams. Includes never-before-seen photos and a complete, detailed episode-by-episode insider guide to the series, along with a guidebook to the amazing gadgets and top- secret pages torn from the SD-6 handbook." The book costs $10.36 at Amazon, with a list price of $12.95. Woohoo! We Hos are rather geeked about this.

Eonline's Wanda on video
Many of you may have seen this yesterday, but Eonline has a video of Wanda discussing Vaughn. Warning, contains what may be construed as spoilers if you haven't seen the finale yet. If you don't want to/are unable to download the video, you can check out the transcript, thanks to Erin, Vartan Ho #40.

New collage in Rambaldi's Studio
The ever-so-talented Ascian, Vartan Ho #27, has submitted another cool collage! Check that out here; don't forget to send feedback!

ABC Alias primer
Whether you're new to Aliasverse or you just want to brush up on your facts, you're going to want to check out this great primer from the show's OS. It answers some of the more nagging questions whose answers can escape even the most loyal fans.

VSR for Almost Thirty Years
In case you missed the notice yesterday, Souris has written the hilarious VSR Report for Almost Thirty Years. And everyone, let's all ask the cyber-fates to fix Souris' computer! Or we can just send cash. ;)

Happy Monday, all!

No new Alias, but other shows' finales
Tonight's the night, folks. After nine years on television (some good, some terrific, and some banished from our memories), The X-Files is airing its series finale, The Truth. It's a two hour episode, starting at 8/7c. Why, you ask, is this reminder showing up on an Alias site? The answer is simple: The X-Files is responsible for your Vartan Ho webmistresses' meeting. Yes, shocking, we know. ;) In all seriousness, we figure there are a lot of fellow former Philes who traded TXF on Sunday at 9 for Alias, and we want to remind anyone who is interested in catching the final episode that this is it. ... Of course, if TXF isn't your cup of tea, it's also the season finale of Survivor. Or NBC's Cosby Show reunion. Or the season finale of The Practice on ABC. Or, you can do what I would do if I wasn't going to be watching TXF, you can stick in a tape of your favorite Alias episode and drool over everyone's favorite handler.

2002 Festival of Fic
One of our fellow Hos, the fic maven Hillary (webmistress of Credit Dauphine), is involved in running the 2002 Festival of Fic. I know that many Aliasts have been wary of fic for the show, but there really are some fantabulous stories out there, and with Alias on summer hiatus, now's the perfect time to start reading. Nominations are open until July 15, so there's plenty of time to sample some fic and nominate your favorites! Go to Credit Dauphine for more details.

Alias in the news
Lugia's added both EW's finale wrap-up and a bit about Alias in MSN's Year's Best TV Episodes to the articles archive. I especially love the latter one, because it's about time someone recognized our Agent Vaughn!

Site updates
Souris wrote the VSR for Almost Thirty Years; terrific as always. After conversing with some of my fellow webmistresses, I'm very confused about whether we have any new spoilers or not for Daredevil and season 2. We do, or we don't. Take that for what it's worth. :)

Alias mentions!
Those of you that watched last night's Saturday Night Live probably caught the Alias mention on the "Weekend Update" segment. Tina Fey was going off on an article saying that women needed to have babies by the time they were 27. So she brought out some other female cast members to say what they thought of the article. During that bit, Maya Rudolph had a message to all the men out there: "Stop playing 'Grand Theft Auto 3' and holding out for the chick from Alias!" Tina added: "You're not getting the chick from Alias!" ... And if you would all indulge me in one totally off-topic thing: I wanted to give a shout out to Will Ferrel, because last night was his last episode. He was one of my favorite cast members, and I'm going to miss him.

There's a tiny bit of spoiler-ness for the finale and season 2 at Teenmag.com. That pic of Syd & Vaughn is certainly getting around! Thanks to Hayla24 at vartanetc for the heads-up. How cool that the article even links to Michael's rocking official site!

Jennifer news:
Jennifer & Scott (Foley, her husband) are among the celebrities who helped design a room in a celebrity show house in Brentwood in conjunction with the magazine House Beautiful. (Other celebs who participated include Halle Berry, Courteney Cox Arquette & Sylvester Stallone.) Jen & Scott designed the kitchen. (Jen really liked the sink; Scott liked the countertops.) Proceeds will go to a charity for underprivileged children. To see pics from the rooms, go to extratv.com.

Greg Grunberg news:
From TV Guide (May 18-24, with XF on cover) story about Felicity actors:
Greg Grunberg
Plays: Sean Blumberg
Will Sean and Meghan stay together? "Yes, because they yell and vent their feelings. I would love to do the Sean-Meghan spin-off sitcom." Best thing about being on the show? Working with his friend, creator and executive producer J.J. Abrams. "I've known the guy since kindergarten." What was your favorite Sean invention? "Smoothaise. It was a 'mayonnaisey,' sort of 'relishy' mustard combination. Working with that stuff was gross!" What's next? Grunberg already appears on Abrams's Alias on ABC. He also has an NBC pilot, "It's Not About Me," with Jason Bateman and Nikki Cox, and a small part in "Austin Powers in Goldmember." "It's my son's favorite [character]," Grunberg says. "He's gonna freak out."

By the way, Scott Foley's best thing about being on the show? "Meeting my wife." Yeah, he'd better say that! ;)

That's it for today; have a terrific Sunday, everyone.
