Yay! It's June!
Happy 1st of June everyone! :) Now the hiatus doesn't seem that long anymore, does it? ;) In any case, here are some news to tide you over:
Vote for Michael and Jennifer!
Yes, that's right: new polls that need your vote! The first are the WandAwards at E!Online. Lots of chances to vote for Alias, including Best Chemistry for MV&JG and Michael as Breakout Star. Important note: You have to vote in *every* category for your votes to count.
The second is over at Seventeen: Jennifer and Alias (and Scott Foley separately) are nominated for votes in the '2002 Teen Choice Awards' balloting for anyone who's under 20. So if you are under 20 :cough:, get over there to kick some voting butt! ;) Thanks for the heads-up, Debby!
Alias Casting Call: Mom's the Word
Read a new article about the casting of SpyMomski from TV Guide! This might evoke some bad X-Files memories, so beware! ;)
New 'Daredevil' photos!
Kate has added some awesome photos from the set of Daredevil to our Daredevil spoilers page. Jennifer is in them in her role as Elektra! Kate has also added some information on what Jen's costume will look like! I can't wait to see it!
Site updates
The calendar has been updated with two Michael Vartan movies, which will air this month:
'It Had To Be You' on June 9th at 5 p.m. EST on LIFETIME,
'Touch Me' on June 15th at 1 p.m. EST on LIFETIME MOVIE NETWORK
I added a new banner to the Link To Our Site section. Beautiful work by Aatrek from the SD-6 boards. Thanks! :)
The coincidences page has been updated with two very interesting pieces of information. Serves to prove that on Alias the details count, baby! ;)
Kate has updated the Wish List and added a new page. We are up to page 6 already! Thanks so much for all the great music recommendations you all keep sending in! :)
Finally, don't forget to check out our 'Pic Of The Day' every day. We've uploaded some new ones for your enjoyment. Just click on the cute Michael pic to your right!
And if you feel you have some additional time this weekend, hop over to JackmansLanding.com, which is a fantastic website focusing on Hugh Jackman (who rocks!). And if you're wondering what the connection is: it's run by fellow Vartan Hos, so you can definitely trust their taste! ;)
Have a great weekend everyone!

New articles and JG on the set of Daredevil
Lugia added two articles to our archive: from the New York Daily News Online about Alias and family programming, and an article from the Chicago Tribune, "Spies invade TV realm."
Just so everyone is aware, ABC Family is moving the Alias reruns to 10 PM on Fridays.
If you want to catch Jennifer on MTV, she'll be appearing with Ben Affleck on the set of Daredevil next Tuesday at 10:30 on the show "Movie House."
That's it for today; have a great Friday!

New banner
Huge thanks to Natalias from the SD-6 boards for making us a new banner! Please remember that if you want to display any of the banners or icons on your website or in a message board signature, you'll have to save the banners from our site and upload them onto your own server space. If you link to the image from our server, the image won't appear.
It bears repeating:
We mentioned it yesterday, and we're doing it again today because it's *that* important! :) The annual 'GQ- Men of the Year' survey is currently underway, and Michael is a nominee! Head over to GQ's website, fill out the short form (be sure to check not to receive spam!), then go through the list of categories. Michael is listed under 'TV Actor --Drama'. We already know Michael's the man of the year, but we may as well make it "official."
1st Annual Festival of Fic
We mentioned this a while back, but now's as good a time as any for a reminder. Head over to Credit Dauphine and nominate your favorite Alias story in the Festival of Fic or just read some of the nominees. I know what I'll be doing after graduation: sleeping, sleeping, reading these stories, sleeping ... ;)
By the way ... I would like to direct a giant, Vartan Ho sized round of applause and shout of appreciation to my fellow 'Hos, especially Kate and Lugia, who've immediately handled updating duties when I couldn't. Like yesterday. ;) (...And a note of caution to anyone out there attempting to run a website with a bunch of people around the world: hope you don't live on the 'late' side of the world, because what would qualify as oh-dark-hundred to you is mid-morning to your compatriots...)
Have a fabulous Thursday, everyone. Just one more day 'til June!

Michael Vartan- Man of the Year?
The annual 'GQ- Men of the Year' survey is in full swing, and you can vote for Michael! Make your way here, fill out the short form (be sure to check not to receive spam!), then go through the list of categories. MV is listed under 'TV Actor --Drama'. Just use Michael wearing a tuxedo to the award show as your incentive to go vote...
We want to congratulate Mel TM on her very first website update! She's updated the Sydney/Jennifer profile to our Agent Files section! Great work Mel!
According to MTV, Jennifer will be a presenter at this year's MTV Movie Awards, which airs on Tuesday, June 6th at 9pm(EST). What are the chances she'll bring MV along?
Speaking of awards...
We've updated the calender with the Emmy Award nomination announcements, which will take place on June 18th. They are usually held very early in the morning for west coasters. They air around 7-8am for the east coasters. You can watch the nominations being read on E!
In an article from USA Today, they had they're picks of who should and shouldn't win the Emmy. Victor Garber, and a mention of Ron Rifkin, was named one of "Five Deserving Actors'. Here's the caption:
While there's no question star Jennifer Garner merit's a nomination, let's hope voters also reward Garber's remarkably shaded turn as Sydney's conflicted father. He staked his series claim this year from the series very first scene, a courtesy call with his future son-in-law that became disquietingly discourteous. The only question is whether he and his equally deserving co-star, Ron Rifkin, split the vote.
The inside story, titled 'Jennifer Garner a nice surprise; 'Monica' definitely not', named Jennifer their Best Star Surprise. The caption reads:
As TV's most glamorous and yet emotionally rent spy, Garner rode her wigs, her run and her talent to become this year's cover girl. Condsidering how quickly we turn on sudden stars, the backlash should be well underway, and yet Garner seems to grow more appealing with each episode and each interview.
A Michael Buzz
There has been a HUGE jump in Michael Vartan searches since the season finale aired! Thanx to dramaqueen on the Vartan Etc. boards for this link. Check it out...Yahoo Buzz.
Well aren't they the popular ones...
Alias is making just about every 'Best Of' list there is right now, and here's another one. Read what TVGal has to say about the finale! Thanx Zap2It!
Also check out what Salon.com
has to say about the show's finale. They're the very first mention.
Here's a witty look at the finale, from Entertainment Geekly. He he he he.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall...
JJ is gonna be a panelist at the Writers Guild of America's Film and Television Writers Forum June 7-9. Hey, maybe some SH visitor is a member and is going to this and will tell us about it!

Alias stars' movie round-up
I know I'm not the only movie poster junkie who'll be excited to see these posters in the theatres. Until then, Kate's got both a One Hour Photo and Daredevil poster. Hopefully as each movies' release date gets closer, we'll get different versions! Speaking of Daredevil, an article on its release being delayed until February can be read here in our archive.
For those interested, Ben Affleck is going to be on Regis and Kelly this morning (9 am on ABC). While we figure he'll talk mostly about The Sum of All Fears (maybe they'll show a clip with Ron Rifkin?), we're hoping he'll also discuss Daredevil (and Jennifer). With any luck, we'll be able to report back tomorrow for those that miss the interview.
Just to see Michael smile, we'd do anything...
(Ahem. Apologies to Tim McGraw.) Lori, at the fabulous vartanetc., has the clip of Michael's Extra appearance! Commence drooling.
You'll want to set your VCRs next week to catch Michael in Dead Man's Curve (aka "The Curve"), airing on USA at 10:30 am Eastern, Monday, June 3. Also, Showtime will be airing The Next Best Thing on Tuesday, June 4, at 5 pm Eastern.
Finally for this morning, Alias was named the best in "The best and worst of the networks' season finales." I love seeing the show praised. :)
Happy Tuesday!

Maybe this time we've got it straight!
I would like to take this moment and say to the planet Mercury: thanks a lot. Because of your retrograde, we Vartan Hos have suffered more computer crashes and miscommunications than, well, we ever have! (Or it could be human error, but... naaaah.)
Seriously, we may be the only confused ones, but in case we *aren't*, along with today's update, we're playing catch up.
Michael's Extra appearance, slight spoiler change, Jen on Stunt Awards, and push-throughs
For those that didn't want to read it on the spoiler page, we've archived Michael's Extra appearance on its own page. Better late than never, right? :)
Kate slightly amended a previous season 2 spoiler, due to a lack of absolute confirmation for said spoiler. That's the nature of the game, of course, and while we try to be as accurate as possible, we're not infallible. I know, it was a shock to me, too. ;)
We've added our own little Push-Throughs section to the site, although it's not as comprehensive as the one at Secret Agent Fan. I never could figure things like this out, so I'm glad there are other people to do it for me!
There was some confusion earlier this week about Jennifer's appearance on the World Stunt Awards, but we think we're straightened out now. ABC is going to air the Awards this Friday, May 31, if you want to catch presenter!Jennifer. The show starts at 8 and runs until 10, with host Arnold Schwarzenegger (wow, I hope I spelled that right!).
Vote Vartan Ho!, and new Hos
I was trying to think up a cheesy campaign slogan, but fortunately for Safe House visitors everywhere, I was unsuccessful. However, if you like this site, perhaps you can vote for us crazy Hos as one of the top 50 Alias websites. If you go to our splash page and scroll down, you'll see a banner that says "Alias Top 50." If you're so inclined, you can click on that banner to vote for us!
We'd like to give a shout-out to our 200th Vartan Ho, Jessica! Over 200 fellow Hos in a month; the mind would be boggled if it wasn't distracted by the yumminess of Michael. ;) Lugia's been keeping the Ho List up-to-date, if anyone wants to check out where they stand.
Miscellaneous news and OS FAQ weirdness
For anyone else that may have missed one of the smaller news blurbs lately, don't forget to check out the miscellaneous news page. Everything on that page has been mentioned here, but it's good to be thorough.
Finally for today, can someone please tell us what's up with this q&a on the official site's FAQ? "Spinal fluid"? "Mucous"?? And how can "invisible ink" be a color?! Last time I checked, invisible things were, well, *not* visible. I think I know what they're referring to, but perhaps they should choose their words a little more wisely.
Happy (observed) Memorial Day, everyone. Our gratitude to all those who have given of themselves and served this country. Long may freedom ring.

When in Rome...
That subject line has, of course, absolutely nothing to do with what's in this update. :)
"Colorblind" is being rerun tonight in its usual Alias spot, so if you didn't catch it/didn't tape it/just want to watch it again, you know where to find it. For that matter, we want to make sure everyone got a chance to read Souris' latest Fashion Assassin for the finale, Almost Thirty Years, because dang it, it really *is* that humorous. ;)
EW Snippet:
From the ABC section of "The Upside-Down Season" by Dan Snierson (#656, May
31, 2002):
Vets "Monday Night Football," "The Practice," and "NYPD Blue" are down but
not out (Nos. 10, 26, and 29, respectively), while everyone has their
fingers crossed for toothsome Jennifer Garner's superspy series, "Alias"
(No. 55). "The ratings do not reflect the buzz -- yet," opines (ABC
Entertainment exec VP Jeff) Bader. "I think there's gonna be a big pop next
fall. And the fact that Fox will not have [a] young-adult drama against us
next year makes me even more confident."
Victor's Because I Said So! appearance: transcript
It's our understanding that there's been some difficulty locating the transcript from Victor's appearance on the talk show, so we figured we'd put it straight on the WNP-- at least, the portion where Victor discussed Alias. Huge thanks, again, to Rebecca, for typing this out.
Fair warning: this is the last thing in today's update, and it does technically contain a spoiler for the season finale, "Almost Thirty Years." Normally we try very hard to avoid putting spoilers on this page, so to try and accomodate everyone, you'll need to highlight parts of the text to read it.
from Because I said So!-Canadian Entertainment show.
The interviewer is Maggie Cassella, a crazy comedian.
MC: Fast forward thirty years (ha!) and now you're on a show called Alias (crowd goes nuts)
VG: Yeah. It's such a cool show. I love doing it.
MC: Well you didn't turn out to be a disturbed adult after being a child actor but you character is a little twisted..
VG: He's a little complicated (big knowing smile)
MC: Let's take a look at a clip... (They show the classic getting rid of Haladki clip) (Crowd goes Ooooooooooo)
VG: Simply a man protecting his daughter. You know really, what were my options? The guy was a rat. Have you seen the show, he was horrible?! Everyone wanted him dead. And I got to kill him! (another big grin and more cheers)
MC: I have a couple of questions for you. Where was the blood splatter? What cause you're a member of a team you don't get blood on ya? You shot him in the neck you should be covered in brains!
VG: Would you have liked to have seen that?
MC: Well I didn't like that last show where they were drilling the guy's teeth!
VG: Well you know Jack Bristow is very neat. He doesn't make a mess. He just simply shoots a gun and walks away.
(crowd cheers again and we all love SpyDaddy!)
Have a great Sunday, everyone, and let's continue to make this a safe holiday weekend. :)
