INCOMING TRANSMISSION ...

Sunday, July 25, 2004 Update by: Mel TM, Vartan Ho #13

Hitting the ice
Today's video clip is of what appears to be one of the highlights of Michael's life: practicing hockey with the L.A. Kings. Back in 2001, Extra sent Michael to the arena to play hockey with his favorite NHL team, and you can check out the body-checking here.

Have a nice, leisurely Sunday!

We are the champions
The final PCA vidclip is now live, showing how the cast of "Alias" won the award for "Favorite New Television Dramatic Series" in 2002. I remember how we all voted online like crazy until the last minute because the show was actually behind! That's why everyone reacts so surprised when they announce the winner. It's nice seeing them all together on stage, and Jennifer's acceptance speeches are always special. So have fun reliving that moment! :)

In case you had trouble accessing yesterday's clip for parts of the day, we made a link boo-boo which we'd like to apologize for. It's fixed now, so go download the squealing-for-Michael clip, too, if you missed out!

Speaking of Michael
Some lovely new "Monster-in-Law" set pics appeared on Red Hot Jennifer Lopez yesterday, and Criss let us have them! Thanks Criss and also thanks to Helene for the speedy notice! As we reported earlier, filming may have wrapped by now, so I don't know if we'll get more pics. Enjoy 'em! Then get geared up for the promotion material to hit! ;)

Alias: The Movie
That got your attention, I'm sure. Alas, it's only the screening of the pilot in Australia. But good for them! bella47, Vartan Ho #2885, kindly shared with us that "this Thursday, Channel 7 in Australia will be screening the first few episodes of 'Alias' season 1 back-to-back [...]. It is listed as 'Alias: The Movie' [...] and starts at 8.30pm (11pm in Melbourne). It will probably be the last time any Aussie Hos will see Michael on free-to-air TV before the next season comes around!" Thanks, bella47!

As a quick personal note I'd like to mention that due to vacation season being in full swing, not all of us may be reachable at all times, so please use our main account if you want to e-mail us! If you're taking a break yourself, have fun and be safe!

Banter, banter, squeal!
Today's vidclip is of Michael, Jennifer and Bradley presenting at the People's Choice Awards in 2002. I love the squealing from the audience when Michael starts talking. He's embarrassed, and Jennifer and Bradley are amused. It's endearing.

A Michael matinee
Jill, Vartan Ho #1777, alerted us that Michael's movie "The Pallbearer" is going to be on UPN on Sunday, July 25, at 5 p.m. Pacific. It's on at 4 p.m. here, so check your local listings if you want to catch it.

Always the people's choice
Time for another technological walk down memory lane. We've got some clips from January 2002, when Alias won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Drama Series. There are three clips, and the one we're featuring today is the E! red carpet cast interview. Granted, Michael doesn't say much in this clip, but as usual, he looks nice, and really, how can you not enjoy two and a half random minutes of Joan Rivers in your day?

The Monster at the end of the reel
Jas sent us this link to Hollywood.com, which reports that the final shooting date of Monster-in-Law was yesterday, July 21. We can't be positive whether or not this is accurate, but we'll keep you posted.

The week is almost over!!! That's a wonderful feeling.

Behind Blue Lines
As you know, Michael will attend the "Freeze the Disease" charity hockey game pretty soon (August 8th). The team lineup, including his position on the field, has just been announced by the official website: He is on Line 2, which, in my mind, is on center ice bordering the offensive zone. So he's going to help build and organize the game rather than attack, and there won't be a huge chance for scoring, but he might assist. But I'm no expert, I only know soccer! Thanks to Ariane214 at Vartypants Vigilantes for the link!

Caption me!
Not much time left to come up with something clever for Michael to write on his typewriter. He's just too cute sitting there, thinking. And I don't know if you can make it out, but he's wearing an NHL t-shirt from 1995. That's gotta be inspiring! Thanks to everyone who has participated so far!

Season 4 = Mission Impossible?
If you're wondering what J.J. is up to these days, it ain't "Alias." He's just scored big! According to Cinescape, "Sources for Coming Attractions report that J.J. Abrams, the creator of ABC's hit spy series 'Alias,' is the new director of 'Mission: Impossible 3.' Abrams replaces Joe Carnahan who left the project due to creative differences earlier this week. M:I 3 is scheduled to begin filming in Berlin next month." Hope that didn't ruin your Wednesday! At least we still have the "Angel" writers. :)

He oughta be in pictures
Thanks to the Jinnie Photo Agency ;-), we've added a few new pictures of MV from the "Alias" press conference for foreign media last fall.

Speaking of MV, Jess, Vartan Ho #870, alerted us that a pic of MV from the All-Star Sports Jam is on the Entertainment Tonight Web site under Hot Shots, Supa Star Sightings. Thanks, Jess!

Their kiss is on her list
No getting around it, I'm a child of the '80s. (Non-children of the '80s don't know why I just said that, do you? ;-) Anyway, did Sam and Josie's kiss in "Never Been Kissed" make you swoon? It definitely did this writer, so much so that she considers them one of the Swooniest Couples in film history! And that's some pretty stiff competition.

Time to put those sais to use
Speaking of competition, the release date of "Elektra" has been changed, so that now it will be opening against the remake of "The Amityville Horror," which stars a certain actress many "Alias" viewers weren't too fond of last season. So, you know which movie you'll have to see, right?

Final "Rosie" Vidclip
With today's release of the fourth and final "Rosie" vidclip, Michael's appearance on his first ever talkshow is complete. We thank Lori again for her generous offerings and hope you enjoyed this little feature as much as we did. We'll be sure to continue posting more of her Michael gems in the near future!

Confirmation of Comic-Con "Alias" Attendees
The Inkworks trading cards site announced that Ron Rifkin, Kevin Weisman, Greg Grunberg and J.J. Abrams will be in the Inkworks booth to meet fans and sign autographs on Friday, July 23rd between 11:30-1:30 p.m. Fans will also receive a Comic-Con exclusive "Alias" poster. Many thanks to Alicia, Vartan Ho # 584, for the follow-up! If any of you are going, we'd love to hear how it went! And what you asked J.J. ;)

Staff Changes at The Safe House
Kate and Spygirl could no longer devote so much of their personal time to the website and have moved on to other pastures. We thank them for the fun and friendship we shared over the past three years and, of course, all their hard work, creativeness and inspiration they gave to the site. We wish them well in everything they persue, on the net and off!

The staff now consists of the three permanent members and co-founders Mel TM, Souris and myself. You can continue to mail us at our usual addies, along with the main thesafehouse@vartanho.com account. All other @vartanho.com accounts have been closed, so please don't use them anymore! If you want to contact any of the former webmistresses / co-founders or Patrick M., please mail your comments to us and we'll pass them on! The site will continue to run and be updated like you're used to. Thanks for your attention!

Have a nice Monday!
