Happy New Year!
We wish everyone a healthy, happy, successful, and fulfilling 2006! Hope your celebrations yesterday were extra-nice and you had a fantastic start! We saw fireworks like you wouldn't believe! And that glass of champagne wasn't bad, either.
Caption This results
We're starting the new year with wrapping up something from the old: the December caption contest. Congratulations to Jessica, Vartan Ho #3857, for submitting the winning caption! I'd like to state that we're not affiliated with Motorola in any way. Hee. Thanks to everyone for participating and for the sweet wishes you sent along with your captions! Hope you'll have fun with the new pic, too!
Enjoy New Year's! I'll go look into what it means when you dream about MV the first night of the year. Whoo!

Resolutions, or the lack thereof
Australia's Herald Sun newspaper asked celebrities about their New Year's resolutions, and here's what Michael had to say: "Not to have any because every time I've had any, by 5 o'clock on the first of January, they've gone down the toilet.'' Thanks to Rosemary for that!
"Monster-in-Law" news
According to The Hollywood Reporter, MiL was the 13th most-popular Blockbuster rental of 2005. And according to DVDExclusive.com, MiL was the 11th most-rented movie of the year, taking in $53.65 million from rentals to go with its $82.9 million in theaters. Not too shabby! Thanks to Hockeyfan and SouthernGal at Vartanopia for those heads-up.
If you're partying tonight for New Year's Eve, remember to party responsibly. That's why I'm having the New Year's Eve party at my place -- I can drink without worrying about how to get home! ;-)

Get ready for 2006
It's almost the end of 2005 (how did that happen??), so we've started a 2006 MV calendar. We just have January and February so far, but other months will follow. We hope you'll enjoy keeping track of your days this way.

Last chance to get creative
Maybe some of you got Christmas presents of the electronic kind and are now inspired to fire off some snarky comments for December's Caption This. In any case, do it soon 'cause there are only a couple of days left in the contest, the month and the year! Eek!
Once you're done with it, we recommend to crawl back to bed 'cause it's way too snowy outside. Unless you're like my ski-loving friends. Then more snow to you! :)

End of the year
As 2005 draws to a close, it's time to take a look back at the year, and of course quite a few writers are doing that. TVGal at Zap2it has compiled the best quotes of the year from television, and several of them were said by or about Michael. (Unsurprisingly, there were also multiple entries from Logan "Quote Machine" Echolls from "Veronica Mars.")
Of course, in our opinion, no synopsis of the TV year would be complete without a mention of ABC's decision to get rid of Michael, and the Contra Costa Times takes ABC to task for killing off Vaughn. Way to go, Chuck!
Artistic admiration
Mad Skizzo from Italy got creative and sent us this nice sketch of Michael. Thank you for that! It's certainly something warm to look at in this cold weather.
Ah, back to work after the long weekend. Joy.

Visually stunning
As promised, here's the second half of Patrick's "The Horizon" screencaps. Monsieur Vartan looking his best! Thanks so much, Patrick!
We, too, would like to take a moment to reflect on last year's devastating tsunami in Southeast Asia and call attention to the Tsunami Recovery Program of the Red Cross: "This program focuses on three areas of priority and is based on the American Red Cross core competencies. These areas are community health and disease control, disaster preparedness and community restoration and rebuilding." We wish them success!
Hope everyone continues to have safe and joyful holidays!
