Twice-baked Tater
Since we knew some people were having trouble playing the Tater Tops clips, we tried to capture it and convert it to another format for you to play. Alas, technology thwarted us. However, Lugia managed to capture the audio, which you can download here. She also made a bunch of screencaps, so maybe between the two, it'll be almost like getting to watch it!

Light of our lives
bvec43 found out some more about the Light anniversary celebration this weekend: "The celebration continues Saturday afternoon with a poker tournament with $250,000 in prizes. Celebrities including the cast of Entourage, Vin Diesel, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Kim Kardashian, James Woods, Michael Vartan, Hank Azaria, Michelle Rodriquez, Mekhi Pheifer, and more will walk the red carpet for Saturday night's bash." Let's hope that if Michael attends, he's lucky (wins at poker) and we're lucky, too (photos!).
He's on her list
In response to the ridiculousness that was the TV Guide "TV's Sexiest Men" issue and the People magazine "Hottest Bachelors" issue, a writer for TheDay.com came up with her own list of TV cuties, which Michael was on. Now, of course, I have some quibbles with her list, too, but any list that includes Michael, Jason Dohring, Phil Keoghan and Nigel Barker is much more to my liking than those other publications! Thanks to Judith for the heads-up.

Looks like it might be time for the next Michael appearance: the Bellagio in Vegas
is having an anniversary party and celebrity poker tournament this weekend. Michael is
one of the confirmed invitees, so hopefully
he'll show up and have a great winning streak. Thanks to redhat for the info!
A dubious honor
Well, Michael won one of Kristin's Tater Top Awards, and I'm not sure we're particularly happy about which one! Oh, well, at least it resulted in us getting to see a nice video of a short interview with Michael and him accepting his "award." (FYI: Some people have had trouble getting the video there to play. It kept hanging up for me every few seconds, but at least I did get to watch it in fits and starts.) Let's hope Millie does her job there. Thanks to bvec43 for the heads-up!

Fun on the Ice
Two hockey items today! The "Freeze the Disease" Web site has been updated to gear everybody up for the 3rd annual hockey game this fall benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Michael is still listed as "Invited." They've posted a slideshow of game action pics, which include a couple of cute MV ones, and two videos, a news segment from CBS 2 and a smashing trailer to whet your appetite for the next event. There's a close-up of MV towards the end. More photos of last year's game are here. Thanks to Judith for the alert!
Michael has also been invited to this year's "Stars with Sticks" celebrity hockey game benefitting the Starlight Foundation. Chatty sent an email to the Starlight Foundation and received a press release and an event overview, which you can read and download in our articles section. The event will be held at the Toyota Sports Center (Los Angeles Kings Training Center) in El Segundo on Saturday, August 26, 2006. Many thanks for the information, Chatty!

Being sporty pays
There's a fun quote from Michael in the June 26th issue of Star magazine. It's highlighted in its own (pink) box on page 39 under "Star People": 'I don't diet. I eat hamburgers and fries.' -- Chiseled "Alias" star Michael Vartan, on how he keeps in shape. Why is that making me really hungry now? Thanks to Musicat for passing that on!!
It's so exciting that teams are starting to get knocked out of the World Cup now! Only the best of the best remaining. But who's it gonna be?!

Note about the site
Our Web host is going to be fiddling around with some things tomorrow. Supposedly it won't cause any disruption in the site, but if you experience weirdness when you're visiting, or we go down for a while, that would be why!
Show bidness
Helene passed along a link to the French Ebay site, where someone is selling 8X10 photos of Michael from the "Time for Heroes" benefit. Obviously we can't vouch for the seller, but they seem to have high positive feedback. Bon chance if you bid!
Call for nominees
TVGal has opened up nominations for The Amy Awards. Not to beat a dead horse or anything ;-), but I think killing off Vaughn would be a fine nomination for "I Wouldn't Buy That If It Was on Sale (a.k.a. Worst Story line or Plot Twist)."
Congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes, the 2006 Stanley Cup champions! Wheeeee! Cam Ward is the MAN. Who would've thought that the first pro title to come to North Carolina would be in hockey? (Oy, I'm still pained by the Panthers-Patriots Super Bowl.)

Mike's bike has a new owner
Michael's Electra bicycle that was auctioned off for Project Angel Food, went to an Internet Bidder for $500. That seems like a reasonable price for once if you consider that Jennifer Garner's dress only went for $600, as well. The site's still live if you want to take another look at the cute pic of MV on the bike. Thanks to Judith for the heads-up!
Interesting fact: The first "X-Files" movie opened in theaters on this day eight years ago. Hopp Schwiiz!
