"Fire" in the hole!
If any of you happen to be lucky enough to have Reelz channel, you can see Michael in "Ring of Fire" starting Monday. The first part will air Monday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern, and the second part will air Tuesday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. It's unfortunately not a widely available channel, but you can enter your zip code here and it will tell you if and where it's available in your area. You'll probably have to have satellite TV or expanded digital cable. You can also see a few clips at that link. (I'm sorry, but "Dr. Cooper" just makes me think of Big Bang Theory, LOL!)

Michael contributes to "A Letter to My Dog"
Michael has written a love letter to his dog, Millie, which will be published in the book "A Letter to My Dog," available from September 19. The Humane Society has reprinted it online and conducted a little interview with Michael about it and other relevant animal topics.

It looks as if Michael's miniseries "World on Fire" may have gotten a name change to "Ring of Fire." Here's an article about the director and the budget, with some more specific info on Michael's role.
Congratulations to all of the Olympic winners and participants so far! I'm a total Olympics groupie, so I've been watching little else. I'm always sad when the swimming is over, though.

"World on Fire" details
More info has become available on Michael's new mini-series. "Disaster Pack V.1" is a TV project consisting of five disaster-themed mini-series. Michael will star in mini-series number 5 called "World on Fire" (runtime: four hours).
According to Deadline.com, its specific disaster is a massive undersea eruption at the Pacific's ring of fire, caused by an oil company drilling too deeply into the ocean floor and hitting a lava pocket.
Filming is underway in the Vancouver area and this on-location report reveals that Terry O'Quinn is part of the cast. "Alias" fans might remember him as F.B.I. Assistant Director Kendall in Season 2. Thanks to SouthernGal!

New project
Michael is working on a new project! It's a miniseries called "World on Fire," and it's filming in Vancouver and the area. An actress appearing in it posted this picture. There's not a huge amount of information about the miniseries yet, but you can read a few things about it here and here, and see some filming pics (none of Michael) here. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael will attend the NHL Awards on June 20.
"Vince Vaughn, Glee's Cory Monteith, Matthew Perry, Hawthorne's Michael Vartan and sports broadcaster Erin Andrews will be high-schticking with hockey stars at the upcoming 2012 NHL Awards on NBC Sports Network, organizers said Tuesday. ...

"Demoted" straight to Blu-ray?
News appeared about "Demoted" being released on Blu-ray on June 12, so we assume that means there won't be a theatrical release. Bummer. But any way to finally see it at all is fine by me!
"High School" in theatres
Michael has a much smaller role in "High School," but at least that comedy will hit the big screen on June 1. Whee!

I had a very geeky moment on Sunday when the Taviani brothers took home the "Golden Bear" at the Berlinale festival in Germany for directing "Caesar must die".
I immediately remembered that they did "Fiorile" in the 90s. :)

"Demoted" will finally come to theatres
Remember "Demoted" and "High School"? Those funny movies Michael did, which then got lost in (festival) obscurity because nobody released them?
Anchor Bay Entertainment has now picked them up for nationwide distribution.
"High School," in which Michael has a small role, might hit theatres as early as April 20. The deal rests on "Demoted" being released, too, as well as a third movie, so hopefully that'll pan out - no word yet on when "Demoted" might premiere. Michael plays one of the leads.
