Sep. 1, 2007: [Re: trailer] We're working on it, but more importantly we're getting ready to present the film in
a festival. So stay tuned. Thanks so much for your interest! Dan
Sep. 1, 2007: Hey Anthony,
It runs 112 minutes without the 6 minutes of music and credits at the end. Labored
to get it right as there are 5 stories, not one, and when I did the assembly it ran
over 3 hours. The thing is, with an audience we'll feel if it doesn't play, and if
it doesn't, I have no problems with shortening it by a few minutes.
However, I made that mistake with The Whole Wide World, and just go to the IMDb message board ---
everyone prefers my first cut, and it does NOT exist except for the one I have. So,
que sera sera.
Thanks for the nice comments - prouder of this than anything I've
ever done. Love them all for various reasons - as Altman once said, you gotta love
your sick kids too - my heartbreak was Velocity of Gary for a miriad of reasons -
but later, much later on that one (next life perhaps). Again, thanks Anthony for the
vote of confidence! Best, Dan I

The film's director Dan Ireland posted on June 30th in response to a question about when there will be a trailer: "I guess when we make one - a month or two at least. Just finished the film yesterday. Thanks for inquiring. Best, Dan I".

Feb. 25, 2007: Won't be ready for Cannes. Our composer (Harry Gregson-Williams) is busy until April, so we're waiting for him because he's the best for this film. Try later on in the year. Perhaps Venice [Ho note: Aug. 29 - Sep. 8, 2007] or Toronto Film Festivals [Ho note: Sep. 6-15, 2007].

Nov. 23, 2006: All stories were shot, and so far all are in the film. Can't see telling Jolene's story without all the parts complete. The film will be whatever length it tells me it needs to be - we've just started editing, so it's anyone's guess, but probably just short of 2 hours, or something like that. Most of my films tend to run 105-111 minutes, and I think this fits the same mode, but que sera sera. Brad is the most charasmitic *beep* I have ever come accoss in literature - he's a monster with a soul, so messed up by his parents, his world, the power of $$, and the redemption of all of his actions through religion, that he's a walking, talking contradiction. Sure he's a bastard, but but he's a really great bastard. There will be no split feelings on his character, you'll love him and you'll hate him. What a role for an actor, and Michael Vartan is a gift from the Casting Gods. He's utterly amazing. Let's just say we went for it, big time. It's Mr Doctorow's world, and we all wanted to serve his characters with the respect and love we had for them. We'll be finished in May, so watch for us. I think you may be hearing about us regardless. Best, Dan I
Oct. 19, 2006: Glad you like Mr Doctorow's beautiful tale. So do I! We're very faithful to Mr Doctorow's story, it's so beautiful and powerful that anyone who strays from this story would be a fool. We've added a cinematic florish that hopefully compliments the material, and actors that are out of this world! Stay tuned - we're still shooting, and I must get some sleep. Dan I PS: Vartan is out of this world!

'Alias' Actor Vartan Gets Hitched to 'Jolene'
Joined by Donald Sutherland, Denise Richards and Dermot Mulroney
Michael Vartan, who trotted the globe on "Alias" spy missions, will keep his journeys within the U.S. for his latest project.
Based on a story by E.L. Doctorow, the indie film "Jolene" revolves around the cross-country adventures of the titular young woman (newcomer Jessica Chastain) over the course of ten years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vartan will play the wealthy Brad, a Texan fundamentalist who marries Jolene.
Dermot Mulroney will give Brad a run for his money as Uncle Phil, who steals the teenage bride away from his nephew. Brad has other problems though when his other wife Marin (Denise Richards) shows up to reclaim him. Donald Sutherland also stars as Sal, an ex-mobster in Las Vegas.
Vartan's big-screen credits include "Never Been Kissed," "One Hour Photo," "Monster-in-Law" and the upcoming "Rogue." Mulroney was last seen in "The Family Stone" and has wrapped shooting on "Georgia Rule" and "Zodiac." Richards has some indie cred with her recent "Edmond," while Sutherland starred in the horror flick "An American Haunting" and was seen on "Commander In Chief."
